Acai Berry Benefits - Can Acai Berries Make You Thin?

This day and age, the market is completely flooded with all sorts of weight loss products. Every single year, year in and year out, somebody comes up with the next fantastic fat burning thingy that's going to give you a six pack in less than two weeks. The acai berry is one of the biggest hypes there ever was. But does this berry really live up to the hype?

The acai berry is supposed to cause you to lose weight, give you a stronger heart, reduce your cholesterol, enhance your sexual performance, detoxify you, improve your blood flow, give you healthier skin, improve your concentration and increase your energy.

Sounds pretty amazing, doesn't it? Well... when something sounds too good to be true, it usually is!

When the makers of acai berry weight loss pills are trying to convince us that it even enlarges your penis, then I think a number of alarm bells should be going off in the heads of anybody who has even the slightest bit of common sense.

I don't want to slam the acai berry completely, because it doesn't deserve that either. Scientific research has revealed that it definitely has healthy nutrients in it that are beneficial to us.

Acai berry powder is over 500 calories per 100 gram.

Around 50 gram is carbohydrates, of which a large part are fibres. Fibres are good for you because they help the food you eat pass through. They prevent constipation and keep your intestines healthy.

There are also 8 grams of proteins in acai berry powder. Proteins are good for you because they help maintain your muscle and keep your body functioning throughout the day. Proteins also increase metabolism, because it's harder for your body to break down proteins than carbs.

Then there is more than 30 grams of fats in acai berry powder. Most of these fats are unsaturated, which means they are healthy fats. However, 30 grams of fats can easily push the number of fat calories over 10%, which is not recommended for any weight loss diet.

Furthermore, there is calcium, iron and vitamin A to be found in acai berries.

So while acai berries are no miracle weight loss food, they are healthy for you. Nothing wrong with a few acai berries in your fast weight loss diet!
